Earliblue
This blueberry cultivar was first introduced in a New Jersey Agricultural Experiment in 1952. This is a highbush cultivar which ripens early season; usually first to ripen. Earliblue are medium sized and found in loose clusters. This type is very sweet with a mild flavor. Typical growth patterns are vigorous with erect bright red wood usually growing from 5 to 6 feet in height at maturity.
Duke
The cultivar is a highbush with medium to large light blueberries and a mild tart flavor. The duke berry is very firm and retains its fresh quality longer than most other varieties. Dukes will bloom late but ripen earlier than most other varieties protecting blossoms from late frosts. Duke blueberries are vigorous, upright bushes with branches that will droop to the ground when filled with fruit. Yellow-orange foliage in the fall is the signifying look of the dormant duke highbush blueberry.
Blueray
First introduced from the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station in 1955, this is a highbush cultivar ripening mid season and considered an old favorite. Blueray clusters are small and tight filled with large and medium size fruit. Blueray bushes are quite vigorous and very productive which grow 4 to 6 feet tall at maturity. Blueray bushes are known for their bright red wood in the winter.
Bluecrop
First introduced in 1952, this highbush cultivar ripens mid season. Bluecrop is a leading commercial variety with medium to large size fruit that is firm and crack resistant often in open clusters. Bluecrop blueberries are great for fresh eating, preserving, baking, and freezing. This cultivar is vigorous with upright growth that often reaches heights of 4 to 6 feet at maturity. Slender light red canes tend to overwhelm the cultivar unless properly pruned.
Berkley
First introduced in 1949, this highbush cultivar ripens midseason leaving large, open clusters of large, firm, light blue fruit. This type of blueberry has a mild flavor excellent for rich deserts and great for freezing. This cultivar is very vigorous and productive with heavy yellow canes, and is by far the most popular cultivar for the home garden.
